Fibroblast therapy, also called plasma skin resurfacing, is a skin treatment designed to improve the look of your skin by increasing the number of fibroblasts, the collagen- and protein-producing cells in your skin. Plasma fibroblast therapy uses a pen-like device that discharges a high-frequency electric current to small areas of the skin leaving tiny micro dots which cause the skin to kick start the regenerative process which leads to new, tighter bright and more youthful skin. This cosmetic treatment has been very popular and effective in Europe for many years yet just recently gained popularity in the United States. Plasma Pen converts electrical energy into gaseous diatomic molecular nitrogen and transmits that energized gas in a non-contact way to the skin’s surface from above. This causes a micro-trauma to the skin’s epidermal layer (top layers) whilst simultaneously heating and disrupting the deeper dermal structure via thermal conduction. This treatment is also known as fibroblasting. Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body that produce collagen.
